"The only requirement for A.A. membership is a desire to stop drinking."
A Brief History of AA in Slovenia
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) was established in Slovenia in 1989, with the first group forming in Ljubljana. Over time, the fellowship grew, spreading to other cities and regions across the country. Through personal connections and the translation of AA literature into Slovenian, awareness of the program increased, helping more individuals find recovery.
Today, AA in Slovenia continues to provide support to those struggling with alcoholism, offering regular meetings and a strong community based on the principles of mutual aid, anonymity, and spiritual growth.

The Symbol of Alcoholics Anonymous Circle and Triangle
The traditional symbol of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a circle with a triangle, representing the fundamental principles of the program.
- The circle signifies wholeness and unity of the AA fellowship worldwide.
- The triangle symbolizes the three essential pillars of recovery:
- Recovery – personal growth and sobriety through the 12 Steps.
- Unity – connection and support among AA members.
- Service – helping other alcoholics and carrying the AA message.
This symbol highlights balance and a holistic approach to recovery, helping individuals achieve sobriety and a better quality of life.
Experience, Strength & Hope
"Is sobriety all that we are to expect of a spiritual awakening?
No, sobriety is only a bare beginning;
it is only the first gift of the first awakening."
